The Guysborough Memorial Hospital has 10 medical beds and provides 24-hour emergency services, core diagnostic services (including laboratory, x-ray and EKG), diabetes education centre, palliative care, physiotherapy, foot care clinic, and social work services. The facility hosts a number of visiting clinics for pediatrics, ophthalmology and addiction services, as well as initiating a number of primary health efforts in gynecology screening, arthritis self-help, and Well Men/Women programs.

The Milford Haven Home for Special Care is a Long-Term Care Facility located on Route 16 in the village of Guysborough. Milford Haven offers 50 residents with twenty-four hour care, seven days a week. The Home is owned and operated by the Municipality of the District of Guysborough under the guidelines and standards set by the Department of Health. Milford Haven is attached to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital and is able to take advantage of many of the services the hospital has to offer. Milford Haven offers a wide variety of social, recreational and spiritual activities and welcomes visits by individuals and community groups to provide additional support for these events.

The Eastern Memorial Hospital in the community of Canso has 6 medical beds and provides 24-hour emergency services, diagnostic imaging (including laboratory, x-ray and EKG), diabetes education centre, hospice palliative care, physiotherapy, foot care clinic, and social work services. The facility also initiates a number of primary health efforts in addiction services, mental health services, TEAM (Teaching Eating and Activity Management) and Well Women programs.

The Canso Seaside Manor is a Long-Term Care Facility located on Union Street in the Community of Canso. Canso Seaside Manor offers 15 residents with twenty-four hour care, seven days a week. The Manor is operated under the guidelines and standards set by the Department of Health. Canso Seaside Manor is attached to the Eastern Memorial Hospital and is able to take advantage of many of the services the hospital has to offer.

Family doctors are available in the District, and are centered in the Shiretown of Guysborough and in Canso. The Regional Hospital is in Antigonish, less than an hour away from most points in the District and an hour and a half from the community of Canso, and like all of Nova Scotia, the District is fully served by emergency health services, both by ambulance and air ambulance.
